KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office has secured a grand jury indictment against a troubled Kansas City funeral home.
Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway also announced on Monday that she has filed a petition for injunction, civil penalties, and other remedies against Frank Savory IV and S. Family Enterprises, LLC, doing business as Savory and Sons Funeral Home.

The petition alleges that the business made false promises and engaged in unfair practices in the sale of funeral arrangements to consumers in the Kansas City metropolitan area.
The state board revoked the funeral establishment’s license earlier this year. Some customers claimed they never received their loved one’s ashes after agreeing to do funeral services with Savory.
Frank Savory, the owner of the funeral home, faces three felonies related to his former business.
Court documents reveal Savory faces financial exploitation of an elderly person, stealing and deceptive business practices, all felonies.

FOX4 previously uncovered multiple disciplinary records from the state, naming Savory and Sons and complaints made against the mortuary.
The state cited Savory for expired, and in some cases, non existent funeral director licenses, that are required under law.
