Investigators with the sheriff's and coroner's offices are searching the Larimer County Landfill for a possible body, a spokesperson for the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office said.

A preliminary investigation into a report of a missing adult “indicated the man was likely deceased at the Larimer County Landfill,” spokesperson Kate Kimble told the Coloradoan. The search began Feb. 11 and continued Feb. 12.

Members of the Larimer County Search & Rescue team and staff from the Larimer County Department of Health and Environment and landfill were assisting in the search, Kimble said.

“Foul play is not suspected, and there is no risk to community safety,” Kimble said.

No additional information on the missing person or the search was immediately available, Kimble said.

The search was isolated to a specific area of the landfill. The remainder of the landfill remained open with no restrictions, according to the landfill’s website and status recording on its telephone line.

This is a developing story that will be updated.
