President Donald Trump urged Republicans to “nationalize” the voting process in order to block “crooked” Democrat-led states from allowing illegal immigrants to vote, which the president said is going to make it nearly impossible for the GOP to win moving forward.

The president made his comment during an appearance on Dan Bongino’s Rumble program on Monday; it was Bongino’s first show back since he recently quit his job as the deputy director of the FBI.

“These people were brought to our country to vote, and they vote illegally,” Trump said. “And it’s amazing the Republicans aren’t tougher on it. The Republicans should say, ‘We want to take over, we should take over the voting in at least 15 places.'”

He added, “The Republicans oughta nationalize the voting.”

Trump did not mention which states in particular he wanted Republicans to go after. But he got onto the topic after slamming Minnesota, which he said is a “rigged” state. Of course, Article I of the U.S. Constitution solely gives the states the power to run elections.

“There’s something in the water up there,” Trump told Bongino. “I love the state, I won the state three times, but got no credit for it.”

Minnesota voted for the Democratic candidate — Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, and Kamala Harris — in the last three presidential elections.

Trump said a big issue with Minnesota is that it has too many Somalis — who he then claimed are, by and large, known for their “theft.” The president said other states are going to become a lost cause for Republicans as well, thanks to illegal immigration.

Notably, the vast majority of Somalis in Minnesota came to the U.S. legally through refugee programs in the 1990s and are today U.S. citizens.

“If Republicans don’t get ’em out, you will never win another election,” he said.

Trump said there is reason for some optimism for Republicans, though. He pointed to last week’s FBI raid of a Georgia election hub as part of its investigation into 2020 election fraud.
